Lesser prairie chicken

status: vulnerable

The Lesser Prairie Chicken is a part of the Grouse Family. They historically roam the Great Plains down to the Texas Coast. Roaming in the millions nearly a century ago, today due to Urbanization and Agriculture these numbers have dwindled to only 30,000. With the destruction of the prairies across the nation, if more prairie is lost we will loose the organism residing there, including the Lesser Prairie Chicken.
